Buffalo BioSciences Partner Eric Cornavaca successfully coaches the NanoAxis team to First Place Prize of $25,000 in the 2008 Panasci Technology Entrepreneurship & Business Plan Competition presented by the University at Buffalo's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL).
NanoAxis provides nanomaterials to various markets and industries with initial focus on pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications dealing with therapeutic drug delivery. Their goal is to create a leading global nanotechnology company that is the hub for operational and scientific excellence. The cash award will be used to accelerate NanoAxis' product development and facilitate participation in the upcoming NSTI Nanotech 2008 conference.
This is the second year Eric has volunteered as coach and mentor. The Panasci competition promotes the commercialization of UB-generated technologies and brings graduate-level students from different disciplines together with MBA students to maximize their business and scientific potential to create viable businesses in Western New York. A panel of judges including individuals with research, business development and technology backgrounds evaluated the start-up ventures on three criteria: strategic business plan, verbal presentation and viability of business model.
